Avoiding the problems of fitting out your new holiday villa
This article is one of series written after our own recent experiences when buying a holiday villa in Casares Del Sol, in Spain’s Costa Del Sol. The path to holiday villa purchase abroad has many routes and along our path we have picked up some tips.
Congratulations if you are buying a holiday property abroad! One of the next large expenses is the interior design of the holiday property. Certainly when we bought our holiday property we were contacted by interior designers at least a year before the completion date. Such villa furnishing companies will supply anything from a knife and fork to a bed.
The primary thing you need to do is decide what you are going to use the holiday property for? Is it purely for your own use? Will you permit family and friends to use it? Will you rent it out? How often will the property be occupied? When you have decided upon the answers you are ready to go on to the next questions. What do you want to spend to kit out the property? Are you going to design the interior yourself or get someone to do it for you?
An interior design company will offer to install all you need, via villa furniture packs. For a 2 bedroom apartment a pack will vary from 6,000 Euros to whatever sum you want to spend. In our opinion avoid the budget packages, the items are too cheap and will almost certainly not last long.
Whilst a company will take the work away you, are you happy for someone to design the interior instead of you? From our perspective we were only too glad to take up such an offer. The pack was installed in one day. However we discovered a few things which we were not expecting:
1. The bedding was cheaper than we would have selected, whilst it looks ideal it will not last long.
2. We could have acquired the kitchen items ourselves at the nearest large supermarket, they stock the same, and we probably spent an extra 60% extra for them.
3. The TV fitted was a normal style not a flat screen, you would certainly pay more for one, but we did not ask!
However on the plus side using such a company we did not:
1. Need to visit shops,
2. Be there to receive deliveries
3. Fit curtain poles and other such items up
Overall it was great just opening the front door following installation and seeing it all clean, new and perfectly laid out. The company even sent us pictures once the job was finished. Would we do the same again? With the experience gained now we would like to design our own interior and do the whole process ourselves. The million dollar question is do you have the time to do so? You can only answer that question yourself
Enjoy your property!

When you investigate products, you spend way to much time searching the internet for the best faucet water filter. I don’t blame you, when I looked up the facts about a faucet filter I was amazed at the specification differences there are. Because of this I decided it was important to give you a list of the top 3 things to look out for when researching the best faucet water filter.
#1 - Make sure you know what contaminates get filitered out
I was amazed to find out that filters are not built the same. I researched products from 10 unique faucet filter web sites. On each companies websites they have technical specification on all the unique contaminates their filters will remove. I was expecting them to be all very similar but was I wrong. The range of contaminates that are each product eliminates is amazing, even though the faucet water filter prices are all about the same. Some filters only eliminate the basics like chlorine and lead. While the best faucet water filters also remove up to 10 different contaminates from Cysts to Benzene.
#2 - Filter effectiveness
Here is another area I was amazed to find out was an issue. You can take two filters that on the surface remove the exact same contaminates but there effectiveness will be all over the map. For example lets looks at an element that would seem easy to remove, Chlorine. I looked at the top 10 filters and the percent of effective element removal ranged from 75% to 99%. Pretty amazing, this kind of range shows up for all the different contaminates you would like removed from their drinking water.
#3 - Cost per Gallon
A faucet filter can be a significant investment, so you’ll want to check out the cost to operate one. There are two basic cost measurements you will find quoted, they are “cost per 1000 gallons” and “cost per gallon”. These two measures gives us a vehicle that we can use to compare the on-going cost of different water filters. Once again the costs are at both ends of the spectrum, and they don’t correlate with the effectiveness or numbers of contaminates removed. I found on a “cost per gallon” basis a range of 9.8 to 25 cents per gallon. This means some filters cost almost 3 times more to operate but they don’t always provide 3 times cleaner water.
It’s now up to you, I’ve given you 3 specific things to look at to help you pick on the best faucet water filter. Take these 3 faucet filter tips and start your own research, you will be amazed at the difference between all of the water filters you research. I’m sure this will help lead you to to the best faucet water filter for you.

So you’ve already upgraded your floors with the best available deals and have all the floor maintenance materials you’ll need to retain their beauty. Now it’s onto the walls - something creative to bring them back to life.
Are you looking for a design touch that’s eye-catching and unique? Having trouble deciding between wallpaper and a painted mural?
While both design elements are increasing in popularity thanks to their versatility and customizability, this article will help you decide between the two.
Keep reading to learn about the benefits and disadvantages of both wallpaper and painted murals, including cost analysis and ease of installation.
Wallpaper - Pros:
Wallpaper is an incredibly versatile product that can go up on a number of surfaces, including drywall, paneling and plaster.
There are also an almost innumerable amount of design options, with retailers carrying hundreds of thousands of different brands, patterns, colors and textures. With so many options, you can mix and match to create the design style that fits you.
Wallpaper - Cons:
Unfortunately, wallpaper is pasted up, meaning it’s very difficult to remove. Before you can repaint or re-wallpaper, you need to remove the existing wallpaper and this is an extremely time-consuming and difficult job.
Also, wallpaper can be prone to ripping, tearing, peeling and drooping, particularly in bathrooms or damp areas where the extra moisture can cause the paper’s glue to come loose.
Painted Mural - Pros:
Unlike wallpaper, painted murals aren’t limited by what’s available from a manufacturer’s catalog. The only limitation on a painted mural is your imagination and your budget.
From wall-size landscapes to tiny details, wall murals can be grand statements or demure little touches. You also get the benefit and uniqueness of one-of-a-kind artwork on your walls.
Painted Mural - Cons:
Sometimes an entire wall or a large section of it painted in an intricate mural can be overwhelming at best. You want your mural to be a focal point, but you don’t want it to steal all the attention.
And even though you may adore it, a large mural can be a big turn-off for potential buyers. If you’re planning to resell in the near future, you may want to consider wallpaper or a simple, plain wall. Finally, unless you’re an artist, a custom-painted mural can cost a lot of money, significantly more than a few rolls of wallpaper.
If you eventually decide that neither wallpapering nor mural design are for you, try experimenting with unique paint finishes to bring personality to your rooms.
You can also try playing around with paintings, artwork or photography, attempting different layouts and creating focal points that don’t depend on mural artwork or wallpaper masterpieces.

Selling your home can be a difficult undertaking, and it is doubly hard when the real estate market is clumsily flopping around on the verge of collapsing. But with a little know-how, you can enhance the market value of your property and improve on its aesthetic value in no time at all simply by installing an attractive bathroom vanity. Many interior designers and home owners agree: nothing adds style and character to your home quite like bathroom vanities.
The problem is finding the perfect vanity for your home. There are so many possible patterns, designs, and styles that any vanity you choose will be unique. So, how does one hunt for the ideal vanity? The very first thing you should consider when shopping for bath vanities is the dimensions of the vanity itself. All bathrooms are built differently, and yours is certainly smaller and larger than others. Because bathroom vanities are available in a large spectrum of possible sizes, from small (24\” bathroom vanities, for example) to large (72\” bathroom vanities and larger), you will have to note the dimensions of your bathroom well before hand to properly accommodate your new bathroom installation.
If you have an apartment or small townhouse, there’s a pretty good chance that your bathroom is more compact than standard family home bathrooms. Small bathrooms like this are built to be practical and efficient, though not necessarily comfortable. Very rarely will you find a small bathroom like this outfitted with a medium or large sized bath vanity, favoring instead the space efficient small vanities. 28″ bathroom vanities are fantastic choices for such a bathroom, because they are easy to install anywhere you need them. The majority of these small vanities are built to fit snugly into corners so that they don’t impede bathroom traffic. These 24\” bathroom vanities make the most of their size, providing sufficient storage space for an individual person’s bath items and hygienic supplies.
On the other hand, middle range vanities are better suited to bathrooms of an average size. Small vanities look rather out of place in a normal sized bathroom, because they take up too little space to be particularly noticeable. Medium sized vanities, like 36\” bathroom vanities, are quite larger but also provide noticeably more storage space than their compact cousins. They are highly efficient storage features, and they also add charm to your bathroom. They are also fairly sturdier than small bath vanities, and are able to support more weight on the counter tops. They generally cost a little more than small bathroom vanities, and their size makes them a little heavier and more difficult to transport and install, but the amount of convenience they afford you is priceless. 45″ bathroom vanities also have plenty of room to install an attached full size mirror, which will really help you get hygienic tasks done effectively.
Large bathrooms are another issue altogether, especially when this large bathroom is frequented by a number of people, and they tend to require larger vanities for both practical and aesthetic purposes. To enhance the elegance and practical functionality of larger bathrooms, you may want to install 72\” bathroom vanities or perhaps even larger. These large vanities often provide sufficient room to install two sinks and two vanity mirrors. The major advantage of this is that it eliminates the need to argue over who gets to use the sink next; you and your spouse can simultaneously use a double bath vanity like 60″ bathroom vanities. As far as aesthetic quality and practical convenience go, this is your best bath vanity bet.

Rather than look for a new home, why not look into a little home remodeling to help improve the look. Of course you might not need to do this for a few years if you recently purchased a house that had to be built from the ground up, but if you purchased an existing home that was already several years old, there could be a need for home improvement.
House Renovations
Have you considered how you are going to pay for these home improvements because most people are not into remodeling and painting for example? This will not be a problem if you like home remodeling and can happily sit and watch the home makeover programs that are full of designs and ideas. A great place to look for design and decorating ideas is at a new housing development while you look around all the new homes they are selling.
Kitchen Remodeling Ideas
There are many ways to pay for home remodeling from personal loans to secured loans, while others even use a credit card but it is the FHA that are offering an interesting alternative which should be considered along with the others. The Federal Housing Administration (FHA) allows loans up to 25,000 dollars without any equity in the home so the loan can exceed the value of the home.
Bathroom DIY
There is a reasonable amount of flexibility in how these loans are used and providing no major alterations are made to the property or any residential buildings built on the land, there won’t be a problem. For homeowners that have started small projects in the past but never finished the work, these can now be completed without worrying about how much equity is in their home.
This program does not guarantee payment of 25,000 dollars but up to that amount although it can be used for properties that home a number of families and also be insured for up to 20 years. If you have any fears about payments, do not worry as these home improvement loans have been arranged with a fixed interest payment scheme to make it easier for homeowners. During recent months a huge amount of time has been given to worrying homeowners about their financial situation.
Having said that, it does not mean you should ignore everything you read or hear about the housing finance problem faced by many. Although no-one ever got into trouble for too much knowledge on the subject, it is easy for the situation to be reversed if too little knowledge is the result. So before you rush and make that application, slow down, read all the information you can get your hands on and plan for a successful home remodeling.

Innovative technological applications have made for some creative ideas in the world of home design. The use of retractable screens is an excellent example of this creativity for exterior design, and it is a method of allowing for a controllable and aesthetic transition between indoors and out. Additional manufacturing features not only make this a visually appealing option, it is also a feasible one as well.
In as far as aesthetics are concerned, these screens are hard to beat. A traditional screen or storm door will often appear bulky or clunky. And over time, years of being opened and slammed shut coupled with rough weather can leave them dented and simply unattractive. After awhile, they may work against the appeal of your home rather than for it. A retractable screen, however, is much more appealing to the discerning eye. Because the screen retracts back upon itself, it saves a comparatively large amount of space. As a result, you will hardly realize that the screen is there, making it appear sleek and open-aired. It merely blends in with the existing door frame. Moreover, because they rely on retractable opening and closing mechanisms, there is no persistent slamming and bouncing which causes unsightly damage.
Of course, there is more to these screens that their looks. They are also cleverly designed to make them applicable for prolonged usage - check out the garage door screens option! This helps to prevent future repair and replacement. One of the ways that these screens display such intelligent engineering is with their element resistant coatings. The nylon plastic used on the screen assembly has been treated to shield it from ultraviolet light and corrosive natural elements. Because your retractable screen will be on the front lines as far as the weather is concerned, all of the above features are vitally important to the beauty of the door.
All of these practical features go towards making these screens perfect additions to any home. Their sleek, open design makes them nearly invisible at a glance, and their housing only further incorporates them into the exterior. When you take all of these points into consideration, the true value of these screens becomes apparent.
